How do you approach your work?
I attribute my work with my figure painting to make art that is both personal and universal. I paints a world I know well : fashion. Portraits or silhouettes, a feminine universe par excellence, the simulation of the products. My work is not a question of delivering a" beautiful body "subjected to canonical rules of plastic success, but a fashion world witch is a way of expressing oneself with one's body,
Yes, clothes are also a way of expressing a sensitivity, a vision of the world, as well as painting, sculpture, dance - and so on.
Clothing is also a culture, a way of belonging to a group. Clothes are a very powerful means of integration. Being a woman of the 21st century. It is more than following fashion, it is reappropriating it, choosing what pleases and making it a trick to oneself. I especially like to feel good in what I wear, there are clothes that I like to wear because with me I feel more "woman", more attractive, because I have confidence in me when I wear it and nothing else.
But I like my relationship to clothes. I find in the end that I have an incredible chance to love to dress, because to love to take care of oneself finally it is also to love one's body, to love oneself.
How does your training, self-teaching and/or experience manifest in your work?
Usually I combine several ideas from the wall into one composition. It’s too time-consuming to thumb through a notebook or make a storyboard, so I just scan the wall and start combining several ideas. Next, I block in the sketch with oils on canvas, creating a full-spectrum layout. The figures are rough at this stage, but I have established the overall feeling in terms of both color and composition. This is the most critical stage of the process: “After I block in a painting, sometimes it will paint itself. I’ve decided the attitude of the piece, and I know whether or not it will work. If the painting fails, it does so at this level.
What materials do you use?
My painting surface goes from synthetic to linen canvas, which I buy stretched or by the roll. For brushes, my favors are Kevrin from Raphael Nos. 1 to 28. My paints are exta fine oil from Senelier to Rembrandt dominating.
Any personal quirky methods.
These pieces of information are like gold dust to our team of art consultants! I take photos or makes drawings or get photos from magazines of the ideas that strike me and then pins them to a large wall in my studio. Occasionally I hire a model to pose but tends to rely on my photos to save the time and expense of posing. I turn to my imagination for the interiors. I want to be free to do what I want I describe the photos and sketches as merely a starting point from which I can make changes in the hair or clothes of the figures to suit the piece
Who/what are your artist influences? Do they play a part in your work?
In the 2008, I met Frank Janca an americain painter, Christoff Debusschère and François Legrand in 2010, 2 french teachers who are also known painters from the school in Estampe whose Master was François Lejeune. This was the turning point, giving me a new energy to my work.
What genre would you typically associate your work with?
Clearly realism, figurative and fine art are what I try to be close to in a contemporary way. I try to say it through mood, color, atmosphere, and texture. I describe myself as emotional and I say that my strength comes from the emotional impact I pull out of the work. Although I do think about the things I am expressing, I try to make it as direct as I can—I try not to get in the way of the emotions,”. “In essence, I believe that no matter how alone we may feel in the world, We all have the same basic needs for connection, love, and understanding. I try to reach those universal needs; it’s what’s primal in art. Bottom line: it’s the emotional, and I just want to get it out. It’s difficult to express through words things that are so beautiful that they have no words. I can’t explain it. I have to paint it.”
